What Would You Ask a Query From an Entrepreneur

Imagine that you have just entered your favorite coffee shop. You can already smell your usual, and you can’t wait to taste it. But, as you look around the room, you notice that the place is so crowded that you can’t have a table to yourself. You’re going to have to share with someone else, just as many other people seem to be doing already.

Now imagine that you’ve collected your coffee and have sat down at a table with someone who you’ve never seen before and haven’t met. After exchanging the usual pleasantries about the weather and how full the place seems to be, you discover that this person is a self-employed millionaire. And to look at him, you’d never guess. He’s not wearing a tailor-made suit, a shirt with French cuffs, or a tie.

In fact, he’s dressed just like you: in a comfortable, well worn casual shirt, that’s open at the neck, jeans, and tennis shoes. And you learn from him that he divides his time between working from home and coming to a coffee shop like the one you’re in. And as you both sip your lattes, you also learn that not only did he not make his money as the result of creating some fantastic software that everyone now uses.

He didn’t start a business in the financial sector. Nor the real estate market. Instead, he made all his money in an online information business.

Wouldn’t you want to know more? Wouldn’t you be just a little curious as to how someone with no technical skills had managed to go from where you are to earning 20 times what you make in a year, and doing it every year?

What questions would you have for this ordinary person with such an extraordinary income? And how would you feel if this person was willing to spend an hour or so telling you how you could do the same thing.

Would that interest you?

What does he consider to be success as an entrepreneur?

How does he think being an entrepreneur has hindered you from becoming a better person?

What systems has he set up in his home business to help it grow?

Besides money, what is his favorite ways to compensate people?

What’s the strangest thing h has ever done as an entrepreneur?

These kinds of question rise in your mind and you would start communicate with him. So this is the very closer thoughts for those who are going to start their business.

Terry Dean is such a person.

And you can hear what he has to say about how he did it in an interview that I did with him.

Entrepreneur Marketing Tips For Creating A Sales Pitch

Business marketing is a very important part of any business that wants to stir the attention of the right customers who would someday utilize the products or services of a company. A proper sales pitch is the core of any marketing portfolio because it brings in new customers and makes the old ones stay. One of the many purposes of business marketing is to make the customers feel that they have spent their money on a good investment, namely, your product.

The first thing that an entrepreneur should do when marketing his business is to create a meaningful company statement that can make an impact on its potential clients. Your company statement should target your potential customers’ situations so they’ll find it easy to relate to your company. This will also instill confidence in them since they now feel that they can trust your company and its products.

Customers are becoming very wise because of the number of competitions in the market to choose from. Creating a quality sales pitch will lend class, integrity and value to your products. So it is important that your pitch is the exact duplicate of what your company stands for and who is it functioning for. A weak sales pitch will not capture any attention and will only be a waste of money and effort.

The key to successfully market your business is to know how to highlight the advantages that your customers can benefit from your company. You need to place your customers in every angle of your sales pitch so they would feel they’re given importance. Not only should the sales pitch provide the benefits of the product but it should also describe how it can solve specific problems of the customers. To make an effective sales pitch, make it more about your customers and less about the product.

Women Entrepreneurs Women Networking Organizations Bring Businesswomen Together In Many Different Ways.

Are women networking organizations the fastest growing trend in American business? This might be so. Including online networking groups, networking organizations focused on women are cropping up all over the country. It seems all women in business are spending their lunch time or after work hours at networking parties, connecting over wine or coffee, or sitting in front of the computer, typing messages to other business women. So, as a women entrepreneur or executive, you may be wondering: do I have to network?

You already are. Unless you are sitting in a cave, you are networking, whether that means meeting with clients, greeting business people you know when you are out and about, or calling a woman you know for advice on a business problem. But do you need to join a formal networking association? That depends on you and your needs. If you are very uncomfortable with chit chat or being in the middle of a group of people, and you find that you don’t need to formally network to advance your business, then you might not need an association. But if your business depends upon the continuous acquisition of new leads or learning new and better technology and business methods, then a networking association can be a valuable strategy for you.

Different female networking associations serve different needs. Here are a few:

Education: Some networking organizations feature speakers, workshops, and seminars on topics of interest to business women. There may or may not be a networking component at these events.

Contacts: These types of associations facilitate the exchange of information between women, putting you in touch with someone who you can help or who can help you. These can be very formal or quite informal. The speed-dating phenomenon has even touched here, with speed-networking events.

Escape: Some female networking organizations are simply places to get away from the business place, especially if that place is dominated by men. These events are usually strictly social and are a good opportunity to bond with other female entrepreneurs and executives.

Message Boards: With the proliferation of online networking sites that are developed specifically for women, the message board feature has become a popular place for women to vent, to advise, and to find someone with similar interests.

Project or Service: Service organizations founded by men for community projects or charitable projects have traditionally been potent networking groups as well. Many women have joined female service organizations to assist with humanitarian projects and have discovered the powerful networking function here as well.

Support: Women networking organizations have found a special niche with this function. To face the legendary barriers in the business world, women have developed support groups that also serve as an important networking location.

Whatever type of female networking association you decide to try, you should have some clear goals in mind. Knowing what you want to accomplish with your networking attempts will help you choose the women networking organization that will work best for you.

Do something to re-connect to your inner dreams and goals. Do you meditate, read, journal? What will help you be re-inspired and remember why you began this journey to start with?

Attend various networking meetings, business trainings, weekend events. Building relationships is key to success. Enjoy a few in person meetings over coffee for a much needed break.

Call on people you trust to bounce off ideas, frustrations, and fears. I love the Buddy – System! Work with your friends and colleagues to keep accountability and get trusted feedback.

How The Copywriter Helps The Entrepreneur

One of my favourite assignments as a copywriter is to help entrepreneurs create the text to promote their new business, product or service. In my five years as a professional copywriter, I’ve helped clients as diverse as electricians, sales trainers, marketing companies, gourmet food shops, property developers, digital agencies, IT consultants and driving instructors to express what they offer in writing – usually at the early stage of building or planning the enterprise. The power of copywriting in that situation simply cannot be overestimated. There really is something almost magical about putting words on the page. It makes ideas real, generates commitment and focuses energy. Just by committing thoughts to paper, we can shape our futures. It’s easy to see how this benefits the entrepreneur as they plan or develop a business. Although most entrepreneurs generally feel positive and confident about their ideas, they sometimes find it hard to do them full justice on the page. Working from a different perspective – the outsider’s perspective – the copywriter can make sure that their client’s marketing pitches the offering to the right audience, with the right tone and the right emphasis.Sometimes, the appropriate ‘level’ for the message may be far ‘above’ the one expected or imagined by the entrepreneur. Sometimes, when they see what I’ve written, my clients respond ‘I could never have written that,’ or ‘I don’t recognise myself’. This type of feedback confirms that the entrepreneur may simply be too close to his or her product or business (whether emotionally or intellectually) to communicate its selling points effectively. If the business is a one-person startup enterprise, it’s easy to see why. Talking an idea through with a good copywriter (one who asks the client lots of questions) is a great way to road-test a new idea. ‘If we translated this concept into marketing messages,’ the entrepreneur is asking, ‘Would it fly? Would the proposition be consistent, compelling and capable of converting interest into sales?’ Here, the discipline of copywriting can act as a useful reality check. The dark side of confidence is over-confidence, and entrepreneurs are prone to many delusions and self-deceptions. But the copywriter cannot spin straw into gold; to make convincing copy, they can’t work with unclear, inconsistent or self-contradictory ideas. As part of the briefing process, the copywriter can help the entrepreneur to iron out all these tangles in their thinking – provided the copywriter is prepared to put some tough questions to the person who pays their bill.

How To Get The Entrepreneur’s Magic

Have you ever noticed how highly successful entrepreneurs seem to attract success as if by magic, while others struggle as if the odds are stacked heavily against them?
What do you think is the key element that allows their almost effortless success?

Is it their background?
Well, a recent study of a group of successful entrepreneurs revealed that they all came from a range of different backgrounds, some from very poor backgrounds. Despite the different circumstances from where they started, they were still able to attract success. So, having a privilege background is no guarantee of success.

Is it their brain power?
Quite a few of them had very little formal education at a high level when they started out on their road to success.

Is it that they bought lots of personal development CDs and books?
Some of them had never even heard of goal setting!!

Is it the quality of the support they receive from friends and family?
No, some were discouraged by friends or family for trying to change their current circumstances.

Is it that they were loved more as children?
A few of them were orphans and had a pretty miserable childhood.

Is it that they dont watch TV or avoid reading the papers?
No, they read the newspapers, and watched television.

So, if none of these factors directly contributed to their success, how were these entrepreneurs all with different circumstances, able to achieve their dreams of creating wealth?

If you were to gather them all in a room and ask the question, What is the secret to your success?,the answers would be all different. But, if you looked a little closer at the answers, you would discover one key ingredient. It wouldnt be obvious at first, but it would be very evident.

And that key ingredient would be fear.

Fear is an important part of success, and its fear that keeps so many of us from reaching our goals, or fulfilling our dreams.

Learning how to conquer your fears is a very big part of attracting the success into your life that seems to have been eluding you. Its a key ingredient that entrepreneurs have to master on their path to success.

Given their varying backgrounds, entrepreneurs were pushed into action by the fear of not achieving their goals and the consequences of failure.

Tax Tips for New Ecommerce Entrepreneurs

New ecommerce entrepreneurs can find them confused and confounded by the tax and accounting requirements of their venture. And thats a shame: If someones spotted a great new category and successfully built a web presence, heck, that someone shouldnt find themselves bogged down with the accounting minutia. The entrepreneur should focus on increasing traffic, expanding margins, and growing cash profits.

With that in mind, I offer up the following tax and accounting tips:

Tip #1: Dont Incorporate

A true corporationwhether a C corporation or an S corporationsaddles your business with more complicated tax accounting and a bunch of state filing requirements. You dont want to deal with this redtapeor at least not until youre profitable.

Instead, operate your business as a sole proprietorship. If youre concerned about legal liability protection, note that you can setup a one-owner limited liability company, or LLC. A one owner LLC is treated as a sole proprietorship for income tax purposes.

Tip #2: Start Your Business Before Making Investments

Expenditures you make before youre actually in business-in other words, before youve got a business license and before youre selling or trying to sell your stuffarent very deductible.

Specifically, you can probably deduct the first $5,000 of these expenses. But any amounts in excess of the $5,000 must be amortized over the next fifteen years.

What this means is that you want to start your business before you start spending money on advertising, training, web development, accountants and lawyers and so on.

Tip #3: Automate Your Bookkeeping & Accounting

By lawand some people dont know thisyoure required to maintain an accounting system that lets you clearly measure your income. As a practical matter, this means you need to use a product like Quicken or QuickBooks.

But you ought to go one better than simply using desktop accounting software. Make sure that youre taking advantage of online banking and bill payment features which integrate your accounting system with your banking. As much as is possible, for example, you want to be able to move money from PayPal to your bank to QuickBooks simply by typing a few keys or clicking your mouse a few times.

Tip #4: Hire a Payroll Service Before Hiring Employees

Many successful ecommerce business owners can run their operations without employees. And if thats true for you, hey, congratulations. If and when you do need employees, however, dont try to handle the payroll yourself. Oursource the payroll to one of the large payroll service bureaus like ADP, Payroll, or QuickBooks.

These services are expensive. Figure $1000 to $2000 per year. But the services let you avoid the bookkeeping nightmare called payroll and prevent you from getting into payroll tax trouble.

Tip #5: Consider S Corporation Status After Youre Profitable

Ive written and talked much about how S corporations save taxpayers money and how the right way to set up an S corporation is first create a limited liability company and then ask the IRS to treat the LLC as an S corporation for tax purposes.

Entrepreneur Make It Big in Restaurant Business Is Now Venturing Into Internet Marketing Business

It is always inspiring to hear personal business stories of entrepreneurs who overcame all odds and doubts in venturing into business and make it big. Last Sunday, I just read about how a 35 years old Thai Express Founder Ivan Lee, who started his F & B business with $300K and eventually sold his controlling stake for a sizeable $114 million in the process netting himself $80 million.

What was even more impressive was Ivan had no background or experience in F & B business before he first ventured into his first F & B business. Despite all his doubters, including his family members, about the viability of his business when he first started, he persevered and carried on. Apparently, his father-in-law was also a successful entrepreneur who founded the contract manufacturing firm JIT Holdings and sold it to Fortune 500 company Flextronics for $1 billion in 2000. This deal netted the senior Mr Goh some
$300 million. When starting out, he had benefitted from the financial and advisory support given by his father-in-law, but, subsequently, he went against his father-in-law advise by venturing into other restaurant businesses which were highly successful and are now contributing about two thirds of the business turnovers. An element of luck also play an important part in his business success as he had opened close to 100 stores but about 10 to 20 percent of the stores were not profitable. So he was lucky that his first 10 ventures were successful which provided the cash flow for his subsequent business expansion.

He is now venturing into the internet market in China despite not being in the IT industry. When The Sunday Times journalist contacted him, it found the entrepreneur in Shenzhen, experiencing growing pains all over again. He says that his friends and family are again doubting his new venture. His remark was: “I am a rooke now playing in a much bigger league and I feel like I am nine years back, starting all over again.” This young millionaire is setting his eye on his next big venture where he wants to build the next Baidu (China’s equivalent of Google) or even the next Facebook.

Lesson learnt: To make it big in business you need to be bold, have perseverance and be unique and certainly having financial support from family helps and also an element of luck. He is certainly one hack of a brave entrepreneur!

My advise is learn about internet and social media marketing before plunging into the business and be better prepared for your business venture into the internet marketing world. I am making use of my internet skills to help develop and launch community websites Henley Brunel MBA Alumni (Singapore) and other commercial websites for corporate businesses.

Good luck to all of you out there running your start-up businesses!
